“The Ball & Wicket pub, located on the outskirts of Farnham, opened today after extensive refurb and investment.
Situated at Holt Pound, between the picturesque villages of Wrecclesham and Rowledge on the Surrey – Hampshire border, the Ball & Wicket, which was previously known as the Forest Inn, has undergone an extensive six figure refurbishment.
The Ball & Wicket is part of the Chef & Brewer collection of traditional British country pubs. With rustic design inspired by the surrounding Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, guests are met with a neutral and earthy colour scheme as they step foot inside. The ideal spot to find peace after a long day or to simply escape the busy daytime rush, the Ball & Wicket caters for all moments, from locals and families looking for a leisurely pub lunch, to dog walkers and ramblers calling in for a quick pit stop.
The pub also has a stunning, very spacious garden area, complete with firepits, outdoor lights and beautiful plants, perfect for cosy nights or alfresco lunches with friends and family.
The pub’s beautiful interior design takes inspiration from the village’s local sporting past. Staying authentic to its roots, the renovated pub has been named by town locals, paying homage to the historic former cricket ground that once lay behind it; the field now known as Holt Pound Recreation Ground. Dating from the 1780s, it was previously known as the Oval.
Perfect for multi-generational families, mature couples and old friends reuniting, guests are welcomed with a smile from the team, all friendly, knowledgeable and passionate about providing the best experience possible.
Menus will change with the season, with sensational dishes for any occasion, from weekend brunch to weekday light lunch dishes, to hearty Sunday roasts – and even a mid-week three course dining ‘Supper Club’. There are numerous impressive vegetarian and vegan options with no-gluten containing dishes also available.
And even man’s best friend is catered for in style. The dog-friendly facilities include dog watering holes and dog treats galore. While for children there are is a young guests menu, which includes Sunday roasts and brunch options.
Doing its bit for our planet, the Ball & Wicket is also making sure any waste food, plastic and cardboard is properly disposed of, while all used cooking oil is turned into biodiesel for lorries.”
